Army foils Infiltration Bid in Krishnaghati sector on LoC

  News Desk Jammu, June 15: In a joint operation the alert troops of Indian Army and J&K Police foiled an Infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Krishnaghati Sector, District Poonch, on the night of 14/ 15 June 2023.  In the operation one weapon, two pouches and two rucksacks were recovered.  The recovered items include one AK-74 Rifle with nine magazines and 438 rounds, two Pistols with four magazine and sixty rounds, six hand grenades, clothing & medicines.  By this swift action another infiltration bid has been foiled, which had the potential to disturb peace in Poonch District.

Fear grips Doda and Kistwar districts after 5.4 magnitude moderate earthquake hits the region

  Amir Tantray Doda, June 13: As a moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 on Richter scale hit Doda district today, it has led to panic among people more than it has caused damage to the property.   People fear aftershocks may occur as they have seen it in 2013 when a 5.8 magnitude earthquake had led to over 100 aftershocks for over a month.   The earthquake became talk of the town and everybody in the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar was talking about the jolt which has brought back the memories of 2013. Construction work at GMC Doda comes to a grinding halt due to shortage of funds

  Amir Tantray Doda, June 12: The construction work on Government Medical College (GMC) Doda at main campus Ghat has come to a grinding halt for the past three months as there are no more funds available with the construction agency Public Works Department (PWD) division Doda.   The contractor Kapahi construction agency has taken its men and machinery back and the GMC is still incomplete.   Even the main building, where all the offices, classrooms, laboratories and other things are located, is still incomplete. Besides, residential quarters, principal residence and many other buildings are also waiting for the funds to get complete.   Sources in PWD said that upto March some works were being executed by the contractor. “But after that he asked for payment of works already executed and failing to which he refused to work. Great opportunity for poor people in rural areas to construct own house

  Amir Tantray Doda, June 11: There is a great opportunity for poor people living in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir to have their own house as government has set a target of constructing 199550 houses in rural area of this union territory.   For this purpose government will be giving Rs 1.3 lakh to each one under Prime Minister Awaas Yojna plus (PMAY+) scheme.   Out of the 199550 houses, Doda district, one of the most backward areas of Jammu and Kashmir with having mostly rural population, has got the share of 15186 houses to be constructed.   The week-long registration camp was organised for the people in all block headquarters where people, who are either houseless or have a two-room hutment made of mud and the monthly income doesn’t exceed beyond Rs 10000 were invited to take the benefit of this scheme and Rural Development Department (RDD) has been tasked to complete the process by end of this month. Photo by Amir Tantray Amir Tantray Doda, June 10: Better road connectivity is guarantee to development of an area but people of twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar have been facing the brunt of poor road connectivity, which has taken toll on their lives as well as upliftment of the area.   People will have to wait for another five to six years to get the upgraded road connectivity.   The work on two tunnels connecting Marmat area of Doda district with Sudhmahadev area of Udhampur district is yet to start. The work is still stuck on completing the documental formalities including allotment of tenders.   “Once the tendering and allotment process is completed and formal work starts on the construction of these two tunnels, it will take around five to six years to get complete,” said Col. (Retd.) N S Gill, General Manager Doda of National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

Two brothers absconding in “Incest Rape” case arrested by Crime Branch

  News Desk Jammu, June 8: Two brothers who were involved in one of the heinous crimes of “Incest” rape case were arrested by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Jammu and Kashmir police.   Both these brothers were absconding since 2017 and were wanted in rape case at police station Basholi and were arrested from New Delhi and Surjan Mangyar area of Kathua district.   In a statement issued, SSP EOW (which was earlier known as crime branch) said that a case of incest rape was registered in police station Basholi bearing FIR number of 30 of 2017 under sections 341, 376 and 506 of RPC. “After the hue and cry in Basholi area of Kathua district the case as handed over to crime branch and investigation was started,” SSP said.   “Both the accused are involved in incest rape and had been absconding for a long period of time to evade their arrest. They have been arrested after well coordinated and integrated efforts put in by a vigilant team of CB Jammu constituted for this purpose,”
